APC senatorial candidate for Ogun East, Mr. Dapo Abiodun
The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Ogun East, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, has initiated a reconciliatory parley with all aspirants in the district to pave the way for smooth take-off of the party’s campaign ahead of the 2015 general election.
Speaking at the meeting that took place in his country home, Iperu, in Ikenne  Local Government Area on Monday evening, Abiodun explained that it was important to meet with all the aspirants who lost in the party primaries and all the aggrieved members with a view to reconciling them before the campaign would start properly.
He declared that the parley was not organised to usurp the party leadership’s role, but rather to fashion out some measures that would make the party approach the coming election as a united family. Abiodun, who emerged winner of the party’s senatorial primaries in Ogun East with a landslide 2500 votes to defeat his opponent’s 400 votes, personally assured all aspirants who lost at the primaries of financial compensation to cushion the effects of their financial input in executing their aspirations.
His words, “Let me thank all of you for honouring the invitation to be here at short notice and more importantly for your support during the primaries. I have called for this gathering to assure all our aspirants that this will not be a case of winner takes all. We will take care of everyone who contested and lost at our personal level and we will get the party to also compensate them.
“Having said this, as faithful party members, we need to go back to our local councils, wards and polling units to sell the manifesto of our party to the grassroots so that the people can see us as one united family prepared to sweep the polls from the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship and presidential elections.”
He also assured them that when he emerges as the winner in the general election, he would make sure the party takes care of them.
Various party chieftains who attended the meeting addressed the attendees who were mainly party chairmen, council chairmen, consultants to the governor on local government matters and some of the party aspirants.
He promised that all aspirants would be included in the campaign committees for them to be able to carry all their supporters along to join the campaign train.
Abiodun noted that since he has become the party’s candidate, he will ensure that all members are carried along in his campaign.
Aspirants who attended and made contributions at the parley include some House of Represenatives aspirants like Dewunmi Onanuga from Shagamu, Babatunde Ipaye from Ijebu Igbo, Kunle Otun (Kope) from Ijebu Ode, Teju Shote from Ijebu Ode and Gbenga Baruwa from Sagamu among others.
Another chieftain of the party, Tunde Oladunjoye, however, urged all members of the party to see Abiodun as the project of the party and ensure that he emerge winner at the polls.
Rev. Sunday Odemuyiwa, the party secretary in Ijebu East, revealed that the party would be coming up with similar reconciliatory programme.
He urged all party leaders and members to hit the road and begin campaigns for Abiodun, Governor Ibikunle Amosun and all the party’s candidates including its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.
He charged all aggrieved members of the party to burry the hatchet and work for Abiodun as the party’s candidate for the election.
