President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Mu’azu yesterday met behind closed doors with some members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the party.
The meeting was a fall-out of the party’s primaries across the country where many of the lawmakers lost out in their bid to return to the House in 2015.
The president had promised during the party’s convention that efforts would be made to reconcile aggrieved parties ahead of the February elections.
National Deputy Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, also attended the meeting, which was held inside the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha and the Majority Leader, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, led the lawmakers to the meeting. Apart from Ihedioha who was driven to the venue in his official car, others were driven to and from the venue in two Coaster buses.
They however did not take questions from newsmen who wanted to know what the meeting was about.
The president later met with security chiefs in continuation of his efforts to tackle insecurity currently being witnessed in parts of the country.
